There are several quality resources available to use SMART Boards or other interactive whiteboards as effective instructional tools and not just as larger chalkboards or projection devices. Teachers Love SMART Boards has a new podcast series about using interactive white boards that can be useful to all teachers not just those with SMART Boards. The episodes are about 25 minutes in length but worth the time. Here is a link to Episode 1. *These podcasts are geared more toward grades 6 - 12.

Teaching SMART with SMART Boards has almost 70 podcasts about using SMART boards. While the examples are geared more toward middle school and high school, the ideas can be adapted for elementary such as Episode 67 - Guess the Picture, where students choose a square and guess the picture underneath. They provide resources and step by step podcasts of how to make the activity.

If you have students with multiple special needs, you can check out the resources at Teaching Learners with Multiple Needs blog.
